Hi, I’m Ashley—and I absolutely love tutoring! For the past eight years, I’ve had the privilege of working with students one-on-one to help them not only succeed in their coursework, but also feel confident in their ability to think and learn.

I tutor math through Math 3 and English/Writing through 12th grade. I also help students craft strong essays and prepare for important exams like the SAT, ASVAB, and other standardized tests. I’m proud to be a vendor for Sage Oak and Granite Mountain Charter Schools!

I created Compassionate Tutoring to offer more than just academic help. I work with students at their own pace, helping them understand challenging material while also building trust in their own problem-solving abilities. Whether we’re reviewing homework or learning a new concept, my goal is always to meet each student where they are—with patience, encouragement, and clarity.

    I begin by assessing each student’s strengths and areas for growth with an age-appropriate evaluation, if needed. We review the assessment together, and when a student gets stuck, I carefully guide them through the underlying concepts needed to move forward. I’m intentional about not giving answers too quickly; instead, I encourage students to think critically. If I do provide an answer, I follow up with a similar problem and guide them through solving it independently.

    I don’t expect students to grasp new ideas immediately. Instead, I create a supportive learning environment where they feel safe to take educated guesses, check their work, and learn from mistakes. This process not only builds mathematical understanding but also nurtures confidence and resilience.

    I also encourage students to take meaningful notes based on the problems they solve correctly, helping them develop personalized reference materials they can rely on.

    When students come to me for homework help, my approach remains the same—focused on building understanding, promoting independence, and reinforcing a sense of competence and calm.
